One of the spots Nick Colbey and I hiked into during a recent trip down south. Fins out.
Stoke fest! The Inertia is running a feature on me on their website. That kind of means a lot to me as I think their website is extremely awesome.

Woohoo, check out my Rasta speed blur in the latest issue of Surfing Life Magazine. Stoked!

The month of June… where to start? Maybe with the most ridiculous double rainbow spanning across the Bay? Mega swells? An intimate photo shoot with shaping legend Goeff McCoy? A Cover Shot? More ridiculous rainbows? More swells?
Without further ado I present to you the visual pleasures of June 2012. Yew!

Freeze magazine is running my photo of Garrett Parkes getting barrelled at Main Beach as the cover of the current issue. Stoked. Big thanks to Robin van der Linde from Jeffreys Bay Surftrips for the hook up. Yew!
Someone standing tall in the Bay about to get axed. He does not seem to care.
Probably the most awesome double rainbow I have ever seen spanning across the Bay tonight.
Surf wise the month of May started with a Bang! Two memorable super sessions come to mind that went down in history as all time days. I could tell you stories or show you pictures but it wouldn’t do those days any justice. It was as good as it gets around here and you simply had to be there. The one day late crew once again, one day too late.
The rest of the month turned out to be a bit of a let down in terms of waves but the ocean made up for it with exceptional water clarity and the sky provided one crazy rainbow after another.
Kurt from Surf Sister and I went down to Evans Head and caught up with the current Aussie Champ Brittani Nicholl for a fun water shoot. Uncrowded surf, a steaming ocean and a pod of 30 odd dolphins made for a fun morning.

Last week I went on a quick road trip down south with Surf Sister and the current aussie champ Brittani Nicholl. Despite the not so awesome waves everyone had a blast. We had everything from freezing cold temperatures, a steaming ocean, a pod of 30 dolphins (one of them nearly landed on top of me) and plenty of fun waves all to ourselves. Article and interview with Brittani here.
Elijah Colbey taking off on a screamer during a memorable session earlier this week. Yew
Joss Goldstone fully slotted in an absolut perfect beast somewhere near Byron Bay, Australia. We’ve had such a good run of amazing waves and it doesn’t look like it’s gonna stop any time soon. Bring it on.
After recovering from a severe sinusitis I was dying to get back in the water. I “only” spent 4 days at the Tweed Hospital and two weeks in bed, but to me it felt like half a year. As I was still a bit shaky on my legs I didn’t want to push my luck too hard and decided to take my camera out for a quick swim at The Wreck. The surf was small but autumn delivered a beautiful golden sunset. One of the shots from that afternoon can be purchased as a framed print at Ho’okupu in town. See below… “Wreck Sunset Surfers”.
For the first time in ages Main Beach was pumping. Yew. There were plenty of barrels to be had. Johnny got a couple of nice ones and Jeff made photo of the day on Magicseaweed going over the falls while putting on a show.

In the beginning of March my good friend and fellow water photographer Sarah Lee unexpectedly returned to Australia. Yay! When Sarah came to town for a quick visit last year the surf wasn’t any good, and all she knew about this magical place were my stories and tales of epic waves. The pressure was on.
I called up Johnny Abegg, my partner in crime and second half of the Adventure Team, to see if something could be arranged. As gentlemen we know how to show a young lady a good time and the elements aligned. Epic waves, not a single soul around, dolphins, a shark, an awesome sunrise and heaps of fun. A session forever to remembered.

One of my personal all time favorites. This image combines pretty much everything I hope for each time I head out. It’s the kind of photograph that lets me re-live and re-feel this exact moment over and over again.
Johnny Abegg cutting back towards the camera. Haven’t really shot that angle before but I’m totally digging it.
Tommy Leitch wrote a very personal and emotional piece on my good friend and second half of the ‘dynamic duo’ Johnny Abegg and I supplied a few photographs. Johnny’s story is worth telling and definitely worth a read. So if you can, get yourself a copy of the current issue of SLIDE Magazine.
Australia’s Surfing Life is running my shot of Garret Parkes in the current issue. The photo was taken on boxing day last year during that massive swell. Garret looking very casual in the barrel at Main Beach, Byron Bay.
Nick Colbey locking in some more tube time somewhere near Byron Bay, Australia.
